My Puppy

We are in the fortunate position that we can offer in-person training for your puppy as soon as they come home.  There is no need to wait until after their 2nd vaccine as we have a separate, safe, disinfected training room away from our adult dog training space, vet approved.  We know from experience the sooner you start, the the better.  

Get off to a strong start with support on topics such as socialisation, toilet training, sleeping, puppy biting, the loons, jumping up prevention, home alone confidence and getting started with loose lead walking and recall.  We can help you get ahead of common puppy 'problems' before they occur.  

Learn about your puppies personality and body language.  Whilst we encourage puppy to puppy play, this will depend on the puppies in each session and is always very carefully monitored. Getting started with all this training at home can make it much easier when you do start exploring the world.   

Maximum 4 puppies per session, start when you are ready (if spaces available), puppy play time (if appropriate), lots of time for questions, support and chatting with other puppy owners.   

MOST SUITABLE FOR - puppies from 8 to 14 weeks.

COST - £40, 4 weeks, 50 minutes per week.

Once your dog has completed their vaccine course and is ready to explore the world they can join our main My Puppy course. You do not have to have completed the My Puppy Begin course first.  This course is 9 weeks of fun, informative, social sessions.  We are very careful with interactions between puppies, ensuring they all have positive experiences. We focus on learning skills that will help you and your puppy live in harmony.  We cover a range of information and behaviours. By the end of this course, you will be able to:

· Identify various body language from your puppy and others

· Know how to build confidence in your puppy

· Understand sensible and best practice socialisation

· Know how to manage stealing

· Understand consent and how to train with children

· Have a range of skills taught to increase focus/attention

· Have a range of skills taught to increase calmness

· Have taught your puppy foundation skills including drop, sit, down settle, wait and leave it

· Have started training loose lead walking and recall 

· Have a process for reducing over excitement in your puppy

· Stand and chat to a friend with a calm and engaged puppy

· Walk along with another person/dog with a calm and engaged puppy

· Understand how to manage family meals at the table

· Understand how to manage visitors at home

We train for 5 weeks learning all the foundations, then have a 1 week break and return for another 4 weeks putting it all into practice and proofing our training. Book early, this course has intakes roughly every 6 weeks. Maximum 6 puppies per session with 2 members of staff. Includes online version of the course with lifelong access. 

MOST SUITABLE FOR - puppies from their second vaccines to 16 weeks (roughly) at the start of the course. 

COST - £120 (payable in 2 parts if helpful), 1 hour per week.

This an extensive on-line reference guide.  The aim of this online guide is to get you helpful, supportive and timely information during those first few months.  You can read it all, or dip in and out for particular topics as your need them.  You are welcome to access this guide for free whether you train with us or not. Course topics include:

Some people (and puppies) may prefer 121 training rather than group sessions.  We offer puppy specific 121's with trainers Jo Martin and Hannah Ellins.  They both have a wealth of training and experience and are able to offer support with all things puppy training.  You can book a one off session, or multiple sessions to suit your needs. You might like to continue training with your dog after puppy courses.  Most puppies move into our 12 week Adolescent course, but we have other courses available too such as Keep Calm & Focus, Foundation, Loose Lead Walking, plus bespoke training and behaviour support for dogs who need it. 

Not everyone wants to, or every puppy needs to, carry on training.  We are always here for training and advice in the future.
